A still image has always been a great way to tell a story, to document a story, or to freeze History (with a capital H). Movement adds another dimension to the art.

The evolution of technology

Technology revolutionized the world of still images by allowing us to take photos on the fly. From the first "super low" resolution cameras to the current mega pixels devices, we have been able to shoot pictures everywhere, all the time, under any circumstances (for better or for worse). Your mobile devices even allow you to take live photos. The idea is to give movement and life to a still shot. It is not quite a movie but an in-between solution. While it does not necessarily make sense today, seeing a moving photograph of your kids, your spouse, or family members and friends is pretty cool.

Old photos are not longer frozen

MyHeritage's Deep Nostalgia tool allows you to bring movement to still shots. Using the power of AI, it animates your family photos. Imagine looking at your great-grand father move, smile and blink. It is magic, quite incredible and deeply surprising.

Quick disclaimer

If you are still mourning a loved one, we do not recommend processing their photos. Seeing a long-gone family member or friend can be quite upsetting to some. Also, please note that depending on the photo you will upload, some results can be quite spooky or downright creepy.

For us it was quite a neat trip down memory lane and a very fun time. It was described by a team member as "the future meeting the past to recreate the present."

Time to stop using Google Chrome?

Hello Friends! You may have noticed that WELI TECH does not always "jump" on the latest Tech News and Story. Why? Because we want to give a chance for stories to develop. If social media taught us anything it is that reacting too quickly is a great disservice to the actual news. We also want to give time to all parties to present their views. Stop using Google Chrome? What happened? Back in March of 2021, Google was caught red handed. The tech giant was caught stealing your data in Google Chrome (nothing new here) even though you were using Incognito Mode. In addition, when Apple asked developers to disclose what kind of data they were harvesting, Google had to disclose some pretty scary stuff. Scary stuff? Aren't you exaggerating a little bit? Well... You tell us. Location, search history, browsing history, contact info (yours), contacts, user content, identifiers, usage data, financial info... If you are not starting to cringe at this point, you are a lost cause. Of course, you may argue that "everybody does the same," to which we answer a resounding "no, not to the same extent." Why are you piling on Google? Google often tries to equate security and privacy, even though the two ideas are entirely different from one another. Google gets 100 billion plus (with a B) in ads, every year. Google controls the web browser, the search and your data. Do the math. Is Google secure? Yes. Is it private? Heck no! I have nothing to hide. What's the big deal? People going to the bathroom have nothing to hide either (for the most part). That does not mean that you are okay with someone recording audio & video, and analyzing what you dropped in the bowl. Worse: this information is not only used to push ads, it also helps create profile to ensure that you think "the right way." What's the verdict? Google is guilty of all charges. Most of our clients & business partners moved away from the Google ecosystem. We recognize the quality of many of Google's products and services, but their price is too high. When it comes to browsing, we recommend Brave , Firefox , Tor . For searches, Startpage and DuckDuckGo are great options.

Radio Garden: It's not new, but it's a pretty cool way to listen to the radio

Radio Garden was developed from 2013 and 2016 by the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. This Dutch radio and digital research project was created under the supervision of Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg in collaboration with the Transnational Radio Knowledge Platform and five other European universities. It's not new (in 2021) but it's pretty cool.
